Your Baby Deserves Baby IQ!

Posted in Press Releases on May 2nd, 2007

For Immediate Release

ATLANTA (May 2) – Early communication is one of the most wonderful and pivotal bonding experiences parents share with their children during their early development.  Now, thanks to The Brainy Baby Company – known for its Brainy Baby Learning Library™ of multimedia programs – that experience is enhanced through the launch of Baby IQ, the first DVD series in their newly formed “Adoption Program.”

Produced in association with the National Literacy Trust in England, Baby IQ DVDs series supports its “Talk to Your Baby” campaign, which conveys that the ability to communicate is the basis of social and emotional well-being and encourages parents and caregivers to talk more to children from birth to age three.  Music for the Baby IQ series – which is filmed in High Definition – is beautifully scored by the world-renowned London Symphony Orchestra.  Initial titles are “The World Around Us,” “Baby’s First Word,” “Colors” and “Counting.” These titles have been endorsed by Virgin Atlantic Airways and are included in their in-flight entertainment package.

Each 35-minute Baby IQ DVD features “Baby I” and “Baby Q,” charming puppet characters who introduce young eyes to the world around them.  Baby IQ is produced without narration and is designed for parents and babies to watch together, an approach that encourages the natural “parentese” – conversation between parent and child about what they’re watching together on screen.

Baby IQ, recommended for ages six months to three years, will be available nationwide May 22 for a suggested retail price of $17.95 each.  Also available will be 30 minute CD soundtracks of each DVD for a suggested retail price of $12.95 each.

About the titles:

·        “The World Around Us” – an introduction to the Baby I.Q. range of products.  The title presents an overview of colors, animals, counting, the seasons, shapes and patterns.

·        “Baby’s First Words” – gives parents and children the opportunity to share in a visual and musical experience that will encourage language skills to develop naturally.

·        “Colors” – striking visuals and bright, bold, colorful familiar toys and objects burst on the screen, bringing the magical world of colors alive for young eyes.

·        “Counting” – early learners explore the 1,2,3s while Beethoven’s Triple Concerto provides the perfect soundtrack for their numerical adventure.

Baby IQ is the brainchild of Luke Chapman, a lawyer who worked for the United Nations in the International Criminal Tribunal.  Shortly after becoming a father in 2003, Chapman began formulating the idea for Baby IQ.  He consulted and collaborated with the education department of the London Symphony Orchestra, the National Literacy Trust and childhood development educators to produce the series, which is distributed in the U.K. through the Early Learning Centers.

Through its newly formed “Adoption Program,” The Brainy Baby Company will seek out products that align with its philosophy of providing educational tools to help early learners achieve developmental and educational milestones.  The company’s award-winning multimedia programs are designed to nurture such skills as language and communication, cognitive development, concept awareness, logical and creative problem solving and many other early-learning skills.

Magic Tricks to Treat Your Children To!

Posted in Press Releases on May 2nd, 2007

For Immediate Release

WESTPORT, MA (May 2) –Every new discovery made, skill acquired or lesson learned by a child is like magic.  Now kids can proactively create magic themselves with the help of master illusionist Lyn Dillies and her delightful new, award-winning DVD “Learn Magic with Lyn,” appearing in stores May 15.

In the tradition of Mr. Wizard and Shari Lewis, Dillies – who has mesmerized audiences of all ages throughout the U.S. and Canada for over two decades – presents budding young magicians with an engaging, entertaining and easy-to follow introduction to the world of illusionary magic.  “Learn Magic with Lyn” features eleven uncomplicated but impressive tricks any child can learn within minutes using ordinary, everyday household items.

Each trick is first performed by Dillies with flair and showmanship to draw the viewer into the illusion.  She then lets us in on the secrets behind the tricks – while instituting the magician’s general rules of magic to safeguard the craft – and breaks down what objects are needed and how quickly and easily the tricks can be learned and performed.  Dillies has chosen tricks simple enough for young children that require no slight of hand (and little parental assistance!) and are entertaining to most anyone.

“I am proud to offer a product I know will be beneficial to any child interested in beginner’s magic,” said Dillies, deemed “America’s Premier Female Illusionist” by the Society of American Magicians. “I wanted to create this DVD because I’ve been disappointed by the lack of quality magic kits available to teach kids.

“Now, instead of having a child become frustrated and give up their quest for magic, I walk them through the process step by step, showing them what the trick is supposed to look like, how to prepare it and how to perform it.  If I can inspire just one child to pursue their dream, whatever it may be, then my journey in magic has been worth every step.”

In “Learn Magic with Lyn,” children learn to make various objects disappear in “Dime Go,”  “Cups and Balls,” “Keep Your Eye on the Coin” and “Wonder Wand.”  They can create a new bouncing toy in “Newspaper Ball,” sever and magically repair the “Magic Ribbon,” turn water into ice instantly in “Ice Water,” transform the color of a single lollipop in the “Tricky Lollipop Trick,” and astound audiences with “Mindreading Crayons,” the “Napkin Production Trick,” and “Ropes Through Body.”

“Learn Magic with Lyn” has received several awards from national organizations that honor the best in children’s entertainment and educational products: Iparentingmedia Award, Film Advisory Board’s Award of Excellence , Parent’s Choice Approval and the Dove Foundation’s Family Approved Seal.  The 53-minute DVD is appropriate for children ages seven and older and retails for $14.99.  For more information, visit www.magicoflyn.com.

For over two decades, Dillies has wowed audiences both in theatres and on television, sharing the stage with many notable entertainers.  She performs her “Magic at the Symphony” program live with symphonies around the country including several appearances at New York’s prestigious Lincoln Center.  Dillies was the first illusionist in magic history to make two living Asian elephants appear in succession in front of a live audience during the grand opening of the Buttonwood Park Zoo in her hometown of New Bedford, Mass.
