Kids Hit the Road with “Mr. Stinky Feet’s Road Trip Live” DVD from Warner Bros./Jack Records

Posted in Press Releases on January 10th, 2007

NASHVILLE (Jan. 19)—Get out your dancing shoes, your favorite beach shirt and your musical instruments.  It’s time to rock along with Jim “Mr. Stinky Feet” Cosgrove in his new live concert DVD, “Mr. Stinky Feet’s Road Trip Live,” that will get even the youngest of viewers rockin’ & rollin’ to the hip tunes of the grooviest dad around!

Fans who have delighted in the engaging and charming musical style of the “Jimmy Buffett for Kids” performer on CD will soon be able to enjoy the award-winning entertainer in action in “Mr. Stinky Feet’s Road Trip Live,” coming to DVD Feb. 13 from Warner Bros./Jack Records.

Cosgrove, a Missouri native who performed at the 2005 White House Easter Egg Roll, has entertained thousands of children throughout the United States, Europe and Mexico with his unique, interactive concerts that encourage kids to find their own personal rhythm while singing, dancing and playing instruments.  His laid-back style and ability to connect with children have made him a cool favorite on the concert tour circuit, especially with parents.  His CDs have received rave reviews and several awards including three Parents’ Choice Awards, a National Parenting Publications Award and a Kids Radio Mania Award.

Usually dressed for a beach party during his concerts, Cosgrove sings “smart songs that kids think are funny.”  He’s a former newspaper journalist and public relations professional who finally had the sense enough to get a “real” job singing songs with kids and making them laugh.  His songs communicate the positive messages of the importance of family, friendship and fun.  He tours with a box of instruments from all over the world and during his interactive concerts invites audience members – adults and children of all ages – up on stage to play along with the band.  The show is loaded with laughter, singing, banging, strumming, clapping, dancing and lots of smiles and laughter.

In “Mr. Stinky Feet’s Road Trip Live” viewers won’t be able to resist joining in the infectious fun Cosgrove and his band, The Hiccups, create through eight rocking tunes and a new music video.  Every hand-clapping, toe-tapping, finger-snapping, no-way-your-kids-will-be-napping original number engages kids from start to finish.  Sing along to such lively ditties as “Put Down That Binky,” “Stinky Feet” and “Gobble ‘Cross the USA.”  Feel like dancing?  Cut a rousing rug to “The Fancy Pants Dance.” Don’t have any instruments at home?  Grab a pot and pan or two sticks and start playing along to “Little Red Wagon” and “Peanut Butter.” And be prepared for the wildest dance ever in the new “Slug Bug” music video.

Approximately 33 minutes, the concert DVD was filmed by Parallel Entertainment Pictures at the Polsky Theater, Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas. It is recommended for children ages 2-6 and will be available for a suggested retail price of $12.99. Jim Cosgrove’s music products are available nationwide wherever CDs and DVDs are sold and online.  Please visit www.jimcosgrove.com.

VOY Launches New DVD Series with “VOY Baby Discovering Colors”

Posted in Press Releases on January 10th, 2007

LOS ANGELES (Jan 10) – Responding to the ever-growing demographic of bilingual Latino families in America, VOY, a multimedia company building a cultural bridge between Latinos and those discovering the Latin culture throughout the country, has launched VOY Baby, a charming DVD series that gives early learners a high-quality, entertaining and invaluable educational experience.  A companion website, www.voybaby.com, will also provide early childhood information and community resources for new parents seeking to interact and support each other.
Latinos are currently 14.8% of the U.S. population – making this group of consumers the largest minority in the country and the minority leader in childbirths.   U.S. Census data released in May of 2006 documents almost 1 million new Latino births between 2004 and 2005 and also indicates that the proportion of children in the 0-5 age group is far greater in the Hispanic population (10.2 %) than in the population as a whole (6%).  Often, today’s Hispanic parents can’t find children’s educational products geared specifically toward their multi-lingual, multi-cultural needs, though the demand thoroughly exists.
VOY Baby was created by Latinos for Latinos.  It is the perfect tool for parents looking for an engaging, entertaining program to teach both English and Spanish language fundamentals.  Each VOY Baby title, appropriate for children ages 0-3, combines eye-popping toys, Latino iconography, lively puppets with upbeat Latin music, and repetition (vital to early learning) to introduce the basics – colors, shapes, numbers, etc. – through identical English and Spanish segments.
Initial titles in the release, “VOY Baby Discovering Colors” (“Colores”) will be available nationwide on DVD February 6, 2007 for a suggested price of $12.99.  The next video in the series, “VOY Baby Playing with Shapes”, will be available in the following quarter. Each VOY Baby DVD is approximately 30 minutes and recommended for ages 0-3.

“When I started looking for early-development videos for my son, I realized that there was a real lack of truly Latin infant products that were actually bilingual,” said Lourdes Diaz, president of VOY Pictures. “’VOY Baby’ was developed for the bilingual household where the child can relate to an image contextually in both English and Spanish.  I felt it was important to produce DVDs that were tailored specifically to our needs as Latinos in the United States.  It has been heartwarming to see my son and his friends watch the Latin-themed toys and dance along to the vibrant music with giant smiles on their faces while picking up on both languages.”
“Even though there are multiple products in the market for babies, you don’t find a series that incorporates Latin music, icons and regional characters with key educational fundamentals that are completely bilingual,” said VOY Baby Co-Founder Diana Meija. “This is a great tool to start leaning a both English and Spanish while connecting with Latin culture.”
In “VOY Baby Discovering Colors” (“Colores”), each color is first presented individually – word superimposed against full color-matching background – then merged with other colors through a variety of attention-holding toys and shapes, providing young viewers the chance to distinguish a specific color among others – the ultimate goal of the lesson.
Special features on VOY Baby DVDs include:
·         Menu selections for English or Spanish.
·         “Vocabulary Cards” lesson to reinforce the subject.
·         “Toy Gallery” – about the toys featured in the programs and where to find them.
·         “Music” track, which can be set to loop for continuous entertainment of lively Latin music accompanied by mesmerizing colorful graphics.
VOY Baby DVDs can be found at major retailers throughout the country. The online center for VOY Baby (www.voybaby.com) is the meeting place for news, updates and informative articles on raising a bicultural baby in today’s world.  Parents can purchase products from the VOY Baby infant line, as well as engage in discussions with other parents and download a variety of free activities for their children.
VOY Baby is distributed by Vivendi Visual Entertainment.

Greenestuff Inc. Launches Hit Children’s TV show “My Bedbugs” on DVD Feb. 13

Posted in Press Releases on January 10th, 2007

Clinton Township, MI (Jan. 11)– Ah, bedtime!  The epic nocturnal battle every parent inevitably faces when their children just won’t go to sleep.  If only there was a program that helps send young ones off to dreamland…

Rest assured, moms and dads! Just such a program does exist and can soon be added to your children’s home video library when the award-winning  “My Bedbugs Volume 1” comes to DVD from Greenestuff, Inc., February 13, 2007, for a suggested retail price of $14.99.  This debut title in the launch, which received the iparentingmedia award, features three fun episodes culled from the multi-award-winning My Bedbugs TV show, which is broadcast on PBS stations in over 50 cities throughout the U.S. “My Bedbugs Volume 2” DVD will be released in April with two more volumes to appear before the end of the year.

A companion “Bedbugs Party” CD will also be released February 13, 2007 and includes 30 original songs, five of which are featured in “My Bedbugs Volume 1” DVD.

Created by Alex Greene and Carol Sweeney – two exhausted parents who were having trouble getting their own three children to bed – My Bedbugs introduces a family of loveable characters – siblings Woozy, Toofy and Gooby – who sing, dance, laugh, play and lead viewers on magical adventures, all without ever leaving their bedroom!  Each episode uses music and stories to teach positive behaviors, good habits and everyday life lessons.  Topics like sharing, good eating habits and manners are presented in bright colorful settings, with simple, easy-to understand storylines perfect for young eyes and ears.

The trio is guided by their mentor J. Edgar, a vacuum cleaner who teaches them manners, etiquette and discipline as well as how to think for themselves and solve problems, all through the use of music and imagination.  With their cuddly pillow Snoozy also by their side, each story is filled with fun, laughter and gentle life lessons.

“What makes this group of cuddly characters different from most other children’s ensembles is simple,” says Greene, founder and CEO of Detroit-based Greenestuff Inc., and co-creator and executive producer of My Bedbugs.  “Our characters, being live-action, are more real to children.  In a market over-saturated with computer animation, we connect with kids on a more magical level.”

“Lost Sock Adventure” leads off “My Bedbugs Volume 1” DVD as Gooby, Toofy and Woozy find fun in cleaning, and then discover more than just a messy room in their endeavor to unite two lost bobby socks.  The song “Before You Go to Bed” addresses bedtime routines like brushing teeth, putting on pajamas and using the to potty before lights out.

Fun lurks around every turn as the Bedbugs embark on a treasure hunt in “Pirates of the Bugabean,” along the way learning to turn sibling rivalry into sibling camaraderie and solving problems using their imaginations and know-how.  In “Rainy Day,” it may be raining outside but the fun is just getting started when the trio discovers great games to play when stuck inside.  They may just gain a little weather know-how, too!

Special features on the DVD include onscreen karaoke of original songs, individual episode selection, footage from the My Bedbugs Live Stage Show, and character slide show.

In all, a total of 18 My Bedbugs DVDs are planned for release over the next few years.

Greene and his wife, Carol Sweeney, each have over 25 years of experience in the music and television industries.  Greene has been involved in several areas of the entertainment industry, ranging from producing music and records to being a talent showcase coordinator and consultant for both national and international recording artists.  Sweeney, who oversees all casting, music and art direction, set design, voice-over and final production for the My Bedbugs series, has an extensive background in business management, 3D graphics, project development and cover layout specifications.

Together, they created and have nurtured the My Bedbugs program and taken it to outstanding levels of success.  As episodes first began to air on Detroit Public Television, they garnered the attention of PBS affiliates in additional markets.  Earlier this year the show was honored with 8 Telly awards and in June of this year “My Bedbugs” received an unprecedented 19 nominations and 9 wins at the 28th annual Michigan Emmy Awards.

In 2005 My Bedbugs received four Emmy awards for Outstanding Children’s Program, Videography, Audio and Set Design.  My Bedbugs was honored by the Telly Awards for excellence in Directing, Music, Editing and Art Direction.  The series also received the National Parenting Center’s Seal of Approval for 2005 and 2006. In all, the series has won an astonishing 25 awards!

“I am most impressed with the way ‘My Bedbugs’ educates what we call The Whole Child.” said Daniel Alpert, Chief Operating Officer and Station Manager of Detroit Public TV.  “Through its different episodes, it addresses developmental concerns, cognitive skills and most of all it presents everyday situations and experiences for children to role model. ‘My Bedbugs’ is good television with a heart.”

Lessons chosen to become part of the My Bedbugs series go through a rigorous screening process to become the most beneficial programming for young viewers.  A selected group of educators ensure that all content is appropriate for the age group, and the writers make certain that the entertainment elements – music, visual draw, creative play and comedy – adhere to educational elements.  Subjects include science, math, reading, writing and history, and the characters demonstrate how working together strengthens understanding and improves social skills.

“My Bedbugs Volume 1” DVD is approximately 65 minutes and recommended for ages 2-7.  “Bedbug Party” CD is 42 minutes and will retail for $11.98. To order My Bedbugs products, call 1-877 GO-4-BUGS or visit www.mybedbugs.com for games, coloring fun and information on joining the My Bedbugs fan club.
